Telegram Channel API for Developers

Publish to Telegram channels and groups from one REST API or MCP server, as your own bot. Text, photos, videos and albums, scheduled or sent right away.

Your Own Bot

Posts come from a bot you create with @BotFather and own. Ampost checks that it is an admin allowed to post before connecting.

Photos, Videos and Albums

Send one photo or video, or an album of up to 10 mixed items. Ampost uploads the files, so they need no public Telegram-readable URL.

Long Posts Handled

Telegram captions stop at 1024 characters. Longer text is sent right after the media as its own message, up to 4096 characters.

Channels and Groups

Connect a public channel by @name or link, or a private channel or group by its numeric id. Message links point to t.me.

No App Review

Telegram's Bot API needs no app approval, so you can publish to your channel the same day you connect it.

Same Model as Every Platform

Send one post to Telegram, Discord, X and the rest with the same request and schedule it for later.

Why this page exists

Telegram next to the rest of your publishing

The Telegram Bot API is open, but every product that posts to a channel ends up writing the same upload, album and caption-length code, and handling bots that lose their admin rights.

Ampost does that once. Telegram becomes one more platform in the same request you already send to X, LinkedIn or Discord.

Use cases

Announcement channels

Push release notes, product news and changelogs to your Telegram channel together with your other social accounts.

AI agents running a channel

Let an agent publish digests or alerts to Telegram through MCP, as a bot you control.

Communities across networks

Keep a Telegram group and a Discord server in sync with the posts you schedule elsewhere.

Publish to Telegram in one API call

Connect a channel once, then send posts with photos from your backend, automation or agent.

curl -X POST https://api.ampost.io/api/posts \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer amp_live_YOUR_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "platforms": ["telegram"],
    "text": "Weekly digest: the three things we shipped.",
    "media": [
      { "url": "https://cdn.example.com/digest-1.png", "type": "image" },
      { "url": "https://cdn.example.com/digest-2.png", "type": "image" }
    ],
    "publishNow": true
  }'

Telegram-specific caveats

What developers should know before integrating

You create the bot yourself with @BotFather and add it to the channel as an admin with the "Post messages" right.

Files are uploaded through the Bot API: photos up to 10 MB, videos up to 50 MB.

Text is sent as plain text, without Markdown or HTML formatting.

Private chats with a single user are not supported; connect a channel or group.

Build path

Move from Telegram proof of concept to production

Create the bot, make it a channel admin, connect it in Ampost and send a first album. The message link comes back in platformPosts[].publishedUrl.

If someone removes the bot from the channel, posts fail with an auth error; add the bot back and reconnect.

FAQ

Common questions about Telegram API integration

How do I connect a Telegram channel to Ampost?

Create a bot with @BotFather, add it to your channel as an admin that may post messages, then enter the bot token and the channel's @name (or numeric id) on Ampost's connection page.

Can Ampost post albums to Telegram?

Yes. Two to ten photos or videos in one post are sent as a Telegram album, with the text as the caption of the first item.

Can I schedule Telegram posts?

Yes. Send a future `scheduledFor`; Ampost stores the media and the bot posts it at that time.
