Social media MCP servers compared (2026)

A social media MCP server lets Claude, Cursor or any MCP client publish and schedule posts. Here is how the main ones compare on networks, hosting, sign-in and price, with Ampost included and its limits stated.

How to choose

Remote or local server

A remote server is a URL you paste into your client: nothing to install or keep running, and it works in web and mobile apps. A local server runs on your machine through npx, pip or Docker, which suits stdio-only clients and self-hosting.

OAuth handled or your own app keys

Check two sign-ins: how the MCP client signs in to the vendor (OAuth or an API key), and how social accounts get connected. Most vendors run each network's OAuth for you; some need your own developer app for a network, as Ayrshare does for X.

The networks you need

TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest are where lists differ most, and free plans often leave networks out. Check the network list of the MCP server itself, not only the product's.

Per-account or plan pricing

Zernio charges per connected account and Buffer per channel; the others sell plans with a limit on accounts, profiles, channels or brands. Price the number of accounts you expect in a year.

The same operations over REST

If a backend will run the same workflow later, check that every MCP tool has a REST endpoint behind it, so you don't rebuild it when you move off the agent.

Ampost's MCP tools sit on top of its REST API, so posting, media, accounts, analytics and webhooks work the same from a backend: see the API docs. Comparing REST posting APIs instead? See social media posting APIs compared.

Leaving Post Bridge or another scheduler?

Social accounts don't move between tools: each one is connected again in the new tool, and posts already scheduled in the old one have to be created again. Check that the new server covers every network you post to and the number of scheduled posts you keep queued. On Ampost that is Pro 100, Max 500 and Scale 5,000 at a time, and the posts_import_csv tool creates posts from a CSV file.

Tool names and parameters differ between servers, so prompts, saved instructions and agent code that name tools need updating. Run the agent's usual workflow once with a draft or a dry run before you cancel the old plan, and check how the new server reports a failed post to the agent.

Connect Ampost's MCP server

The server address is https://api.ampost.io/mcp.

Step-by-step setup: connect Ampost to Claude (and Claude Code, VS Code, Codex or ChatGPT), or set it up in Cursor. Every tool is listed in the MCP docs.

FAQ

Is there a free social media MCP server?

Yes. Ampost (2 social accounts and 15 posts every 30 days), Buffer (3 channels), Upload-Post (2 profiles, 10 uploads a month, no TikTok) and Metricool (1 brand) include their MCP servers on a free plan, and Zernio's first 2 connected accounts are free. Postiz, Blotato and Post Bridge offer trials instead, Ayrshare a 28-day trial.

Can an MCP server schedule posts?

Yes. Ampost, Postiz, Buffer, Zernio, Upload-Post, Blotato, Metricool and Post Bridge document a schedule time or queue on their create-post tool; Ayrshare's MCP has a tool to update scheduled posts. On Ampost, scheduling needs the Pro plan or higher; the Free plan publishes now.

Which MCP server supports TikTok and YouTube?

All nine in the table list both TikTok and YouTube. Pinterest is on every list too. Upload-Post's free plan leaves out TikTok, and Metricool's free plan leaves out LinkedIn and X.
